Save Me...

Can someone please save me from the never-ending list of things that kids need because they have worn out the old one, grown out of it, or have never had it and are old enough to need it? It seems like that as soon as I think I am on top of it - something new comes up. . . .and the need to pay for it. I now, as an adult, completely appreciate the stress and sacrifice my parents went through to tackle that list. If only someone had told me that I would have a girl first, followed by basically two twin boys who are built totally different. . . so. . . when like jeans or shorts are needed - they ALL need them at the same time, I might have started saving for this when I was 12! Props to my parents and much respect for going through this. . . Good thing we love our kids right? Makes it all worth it. . .

Question of the Day

So here's the converstion Gray wanted to have at dinner tonight.

The kids and I are going over to the Maile's tonight to babysit so they can go out for their anniversary. I was telling the kids that 10 years ago (right?) today Uncle Naki and Aunt Abby were married. Addie then wanted to know when Matt and I's anniversary is. I told her that it was on April 22nd and that it was coming soon. Gray - who had been sitting there eating quietly up to this point - perks up and said that when that day comes . . . "Then we can touch your boobies!" What??? So I responded - NO, that is never appropriate and you won't ever touch mommie's boobies. So here's his next thought and question of the day for him (oh if Matt could have been here to answer this with a straight face. . . )

"Does daddy?"

I just have to brag. . .

So - I just have to brag about my husband for a minute. But let me give some background. Today is a cleaning day for me. I have a huge list in my mind of things that need to get done around the house today. Including, vacuum, mop, dust, dishes, laundry, rebuild the train table, clean the dvd player, fix the marble race, cook dinner, among other things. So, this morning, knowing that Matt had to get out the door by 7, I set those things aside and worked on normal morning stuff. I got breakfast ready, all the kids dressed, beds made, etc., Matt and Addie's lunches made, all in time for scripture study and to get Matt out the door. After he left and I took Addie to school, I folded A LOT of laundry. It covered all of our couches and made piles on the floor. After folding it, I decided to take a quick trip to the gym and to deal with it when I got back (along with the vacuuming and mopping, etc.). Well, guess what?

The boys and I just got home from the gym to find an empty living room. My cute, adorable husband snuck back inbetween appointments and put ALL of the laundry away before I got home as a surprise. Isn't he awesome? When I called him to thank him this is what he said, " I figured you could use a nap today." Love you babe. You rock.

BYU vs. Air Force

So. . . Matt and I took the kids to the last BYU mens basketball game last Saturday. We, thank goodness, got chair seats for prego me, and ironically (for those of you that know them) sat right behind Richard and Linda Gee! Anyway, also for those of you who know, Jax is obsessed with and loves the BYU Mens basketball team. He watches the games so intently and is very emotionally involved. In fact, when they played on TV vs. Utah the other night, they were behind most of the game. Jax got so upset he asked me to turn it off. Sound like anyone else we know?

Well, anyway, at the end of the game, we were lucky enough (thanks to Uncle David Frank) to head down to the court to meet Jimmer Fredette, Jackson Emery. Lee Cummard, Tavernari, and others. Jax's dream night. . . Turns out, follow me here, Matt's sister Michelle's husband David is from the same small town in New York that Fredette is from and is good friends with is parents. It happened to be senior night, so Fredette's parents were in town to see him play . . .

So, after the game, Matt and Jax wandered around the court talking to all of the players and getting their signatures. Gray, on the other hand, spent his time running and sliding into the piles of confetti on the ground, Addie sat with her girl cousins that were there and I propped my feet up. . .

Anyway, Fredette even gave him one of his game shoes to bring home. Oh my gosh - I don't think I have EVER seen my son beaming like he did that night. The funny part about it was that Jax was still his shy self but confident with a little 4-year old swagger at the same time. He had a conversation with Emery about how cool their name was, etc., etc., etc. Just totally in his element. As we were walking off of the court to go home, Jax realized that they had lowered the hoops and proceeded to go and dunk on it. He turned to me and said, " I just dunked on the BYU hoop." He was in heaven.

This picture was in the middle of the game and Jax was NOT happy that I interrupted the game to take a picture. Can you tell? The boys with Jimmer Fredette-

Lee Cummard - (and Gray with his tough face which is the face he makes when we tell him to keep his eye on the ball. . . no idea)

Our Jackson with Jackson Emery -

The Brousseau cousins that were there (minus Addie - she'd come and laid down next to me at this point, it must have been 11 pm)

Thanks Uncle David!

Addie's Birthday

Okay - First off, it has been brought to my attention that I am a slacker mom and blog more about the boys than Addie. So - here's a props to Addie and blog dedicated to her! Sorry Ad! Okay. Addie turned 8 this weekend! She had a very busy weekend with more festivities this coming weekend too. . . You only turn 8 once right? This first picture is her "friend" party. She first had her friend Brooke here on Friday night and took her miniature golfing - it was a riot. Then we had this HSM 3 party on Saturday for non-family. I have never had that many little girlies here giggling about musical pillows before. It was so fun for Matt and I to watch them. Adorable. After naps for the boys - we took Addie on a Parent-date to go get some lunch at the restaurant of her choice. Thanks to the Javiers for watching the boys! Addie picked Red Robin, to of course order macaroni and cheese. . . We also got to take her to pick her birthday present from Grandpa and Grandma Davis - her first set of "real" adult scriptures. Her birthday was actually on Sunday but we wanted her to have them for that day (Sun.) at church. She was adorable being so excited to bring her own scriptures and to use them at church. After church - she got to pick dinner and dessert. I make a vanilla cake with special peanut butter frosting for her every year. She LOVES it. She also of course had a new outfit to wear to church that day. . . That girl loves to shop with me - We went shopping a little earlier in the week to find the new clothes. . . Anyway - I'm really scatterbrained with my thoughts today.. . We just had so much fun with her on her extended birthday weekend.

Friend party . . .

Addie was given a personalized bead jewelry kit from a friend for her birthday. Here is her awesome dad helping her put together a best friends bracelet. He seriously rocks.

This picture epitomizes Addie. What more can I say?
Happy birthday Addie! Matt and I cannot believe that our daughter is 8. Which by the way - she now wants to know when she can get a cell phone. . . Yikes.

I should have known . . .

If Gray is in the bathtub at bathtime and it gets noticeably quiet - I have learned to go tiptoe up the stairs to see what in the world is going on up there. This is what Matt found last night. Gray decided to be his own human Mr. Potatoe/Potato? Head. We thought it was hilarious. Jax proceeded to follow suit with his turn in the tub. Crazy fun boys. . .

Races

Races of all kinds happen at our house an a daily basis. The boys race to the bathroom, to brush their teeth, to the car, to finish their orange juice.. . . you name it, and there's a race to finish it first. Gray, insists that we start each race officially. I don't mind because that means that I don't have to hear this "That's not Fair!" which I hear a lot from him anyway. But, it wasn't until recently that we realized what Gray was saying was not what he really says to start the race. We thought he was saying, "On your mark, get set, GO!" This is what he really says -

"Uncle Mark, Cassette, Go!" It's all the same right?

Okay, okay, okay it's my turn!

First off, BYU beat UTAH 63-50. Jax's favorite player Jackson Emery was player of the game. I must thank my brother Mike for thinking of me and taking me to the game. For the record, I went to the game because Katie told me that if it were her she would have wanted to go. Too bad there was only one ticket.
The real reason I'm writing on Katie's blog is because I had the chance to go to a stake meeting this morning and they were talking about self reliance. Elder Hales made a comment about stay at home moms. He said the two traits stay at home moms should master are budgeting/accounting and cooking/cleaning. As you all know my wife is exceptional at these things. I am grateful for her and the way she supports me and raises our children.

When Matt came home. . .

I just wanted to say that when Matt came home last night he was awesome. Just wanted to give a little props to him. I vented, he listened, and then he acted. I LOVE it when that happens. He took care of the boys (Addie was gone) and totally pampered me. . . I got a back rub, my hair played with and he even did a special run to Wendy's when I got hungry at 9 pm. Maybe I need to vent more often? Just kidding- He just heard me - and understood that there always needs to be some give and take - and he definitely gave when he got home last night! Oh well for not leaving the house yesterday - maybe next weekend. . . :)
